As undergraduate and graduate students at UCI, our team understands the difficulty of balancing both life and academics. The Mentalists take pride in applying our personal experiences to promoting a positive mental health culture that cares for our future leaders. With a well-rounded and hardworking team, our CarePass developers are working our best to provide students with the opportunity to have more lenient deadlines with assignments. Students can now request extensions on assignments anytime, anywhere without the stress of providing a reason for their request. The Mentalists' mission is to prioritize the mental health of our community of students before anything else.

We are the semi-finalists of the Mental Health Hackaton at UCI. We are currently improving our product to compete for the final prize and have it available to UCI students.

Meet Our Awesome Team
Samia Aktar
Samia is a 3rd-year undergraduate student studying at the University of California, Irvine. Pursuing a degree in Education Sciences so as to have a career in teaching in the future. Marketing and Research Specialist for the research team: The Mentalist. In charge of social media advertisements and promotions.
Maryam Hassani
Maryam is a Ph.D. student in the Information and Computer Science department at the University of California, Irvine. She has an electronic engineering background and being a technology enthusiast, her research is focused on using technology to promote healthier life practices in stigmatized populations and creating innovative solutions for predictive technologies. She is in charge of
R & D for The Mentalists.
Novia Wong
Novia Wong is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Informatics department at the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on digital mental health for youth and families. She also has a product design background and is one of the UX Designers on the team.
Sundas Shaikh
Sundas is recently graduated with Biological Sciences degree from UCI. She is interested in improving the mental health of individuals through nutrition, support groups, and exercise. Currently she is a part of projects like Youth Mental Health Alliance, and KIPOW which focus on enhancing the mental health of youth and kids by teaching them various strategies. She is in charge of research, marketing and product management for The Mentalists.
Lanie Le
A second-year undergraduate student majoring in biomedical engineering at UC Irvine, Lanie Le is interested in interdisciplinary research and the applications of materials science in the healthcare field. She is currently one of the Mentalists’ UX Designers and has experience with web development connecting to mental health advocacy.
